Chris has been teaching and performing music professionally for over 20 years. He
has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Kansas, and is currently pursuing
a Master’s Degree in Music Performance at Wichita State University.
Over the past two-plus decades, Shaw has performed with multiple groups in a
multitude of venues playing various styles of music including rock, jazz, funk, blues,
bluegrass, country, zydeco, reggae, and avant garde. He has shared the stage with the
likes of Freda Payne, John Abercrombie, Seun Kuti, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and
George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars.
Chris strives to create a fun and positive learning experience for every student.
Lessons are based first and foremost on the student’s interests and supplemented with
instruction on necessary technique and music theory. Chris is an enthusiastic teacher
who enjoys helping students on their musical journey.
