Matt Grenier has been part of the Wichita music scene for many years now as a performer, organizer, and musical mentor. He has played with many of Wichita's greatest local jazz talents, including Steve Hatfield, Craig Owens, Miki Jarvis, and Chris Herriage, and performed in many of Wichita's biggest local music events, such as the KNOB Festival and Fisch Haus's annual jazz series. He recently received his Masters in Music from Wichita State University, where he has been teaching since the final year of his studies, focusing on all areas of music history and small-group jazz ensembles. His work at the Blank Page gallery resulted in a two year-long concert series, featuring both jazz and chamber music; similarly, he's worked with the Wichita Jazz Festival to produce two years worth of world-class jazz concerts in the Wichita area.
Audio Recording may require at least as much discipline and commitment as learning to play an instrument well. The number of skills involved and mental acuity needed is incomprehensible to the average person. The best way to learn this art is to sit at the feet of a person who has mastered the art and observe closely. Air House Music Academy offers the chance to have one-on-one instruction with someone who has spent years honing that craft.
Some students understand from the first moment they play their instrument that they want to perform. Other students simply enjoy performing with a group of people. Air House is pleased to offer Jazz Ensembles guided by dedicated teachers who are well respected in the local jazz community. Here students are encouraged to learn how to listen to each other, while also gaining confidence and practice with improvisation and self-expression.
